About the Project
The Hellier Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Hellier name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Hellier name.
The short term aim is to Collect information about people bearing the Hellier surname and its variants, and try to build a family tree for them. Eventually this will allow us to accomplish long term goals, such as trying to establish its roots and origins, building up a history, discovering how the name evolved over time, and filling in missing links in the Hellier lines already researched by the founding coordinator, Day Garwood.
This study encompasses all people with the Hellier surname and its variants, whether through patrilineal descent, terms of inheritance, adoption, marriage, or name change deed polls and so on.
Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Helliers), by time period (18th Century Helliers), or by topic (Hellier DNA, Hellier Occupations, Hellier Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.
